At 7am on a wet and windy morning in Nottingham four of Aycliffe Tri Clubs intrepid ladies stepped into the lake to start the massive challenge ahead of them. The venue was the National Water Sports Centre Holme Pierrpoint Nottingham – the event The Outlaw Half Iron Distance Race a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run. Our heroines Andrea Jones, Julie Hodds, Penny Johnson and Diane Savage were in for a challenging day with weather conditions that would have seen the toughest stay in bed that Sunday morning. However there was no stopping the ladies after months of training they weren’t going to let the weather stop them!
First home for the club was Penny Johnson in 6hrs 39 mins, followed by Julie Hodds in 6hrs 50mins next was Diane Savage with a huge smile and high fiving the crowd and to complete the set Andrea Jones ran down the red carpet to a fantastic reception from the crowd.
For Penny Johnson this is the half way point of a massive challenge she has undertaken this year comprising of the London Marathon, The Outlaw Half and riding the Coast to Coast so no relaxing for Penny just yet!
The club are very proud of its four new Half Outlaw Ladies and for all the hard and work and training they have put in to complete this huge challenge.
