A group of students from Greenfield Community College were keen to support LGBT+ through attending Durham Pride 2019.

The students wanted to march to raise awareness and educate the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of the LGBT people in and around County Durham.

They marched alongside Ellie Barnes and the Pride Youth Network as part of Educate and Celebrate. It was great to see representatives of Durham Cathedral out supporting the event for the first time and emphasising inclusion for all.

The students also had a valuable meeting with the local police service, finding out about the achievements of Durham Police and how they were approaching and dealing with hate crime within the LGBT+ community.

“It was a truly amazing experience which our students were proud to be part of” said Assistant Headteacher, Dianne Davis.

Greenfield Community College is committed to equality and diversity and supports each and every student to realise their potential.
