Dear Sir,

I subscribe to the DCC brown garden waste bin system and pay £25 per year to have it emptied once a fortnight during the season. On Friday 9th June they refused to empty my garden waste bin, suggesting there was dog muck inside which was in fact, an old bees nest full of wax found at the bottom of my garden and removed with other cuttings and put in the garden waste bin. I called to clarify this with DCC, who in their wisdom didn’t class it  as Garden Waste, but said it should be placed in the “BLUE” recycling bin. I was  taken aback by this and asked, what did they classify a used bees nest?

They didn’t have a clue, except to put in the blue bin. I then asked what I do with all the rest of the grass cuttings from my garden as my garden waste bin was full. Their reply was, and I quote  “put it in your BLUE  recycle bin! Why on earth are we paying DCC to take garden waste away , when we can place it in our BLUE recycle bins  free of charge? I need an answer from DCC on this matter. I do record all my phone calls so DCC can’t say they didn’t say to use the recycle bin for garden
rubbish. On 13th June I received a letter from DCC confirming, what was said on the phone – more waste of  tax payers money so I treated that as waste AND PUT IT IN THE RECYCLE BIN!
