Dear Sir,
E.on have now submitted their application to build 24 wind turbines in two areas between junctions 59 and 60 of the A1. These gigantic structures will dominate the landscape and destroy habitats over a vast area.
Some will be built on flood plains, some on peat. E.on has ignored the concerns raised by the community, yet claims to have consulted and listened to us. The effect of these turbines together with those already built as well as those that have been given planning permission and are waiting to be built, will be overwhelming and oppressive for many readers of this paper.
This technology does not bring jobs to the area. It will bring chaos to our roads during construction. As evidence mounts about the effects of turbine noise and flicker on some people, we are facing the possibility of the largest turbines in the County being built far too close to homes and roads.
There are many reasons why the Isles is a completely unsuitable place to build so many turbines and we are asking people to submit their objections to Durham County Council planners via e mail dmstrategic@durham.gov.uk Please help us to protect our County, our communities and our homes.
