Dear Sir,
What is to be done with Elmfied site? Weeks after broaching the subject and having read all manner of correspondence in this publication no sensible suggestions have come forward.
We are told that a covenant exists on the land promoting education yet we are informed that there is no need for another school locally.
So we have a beautiful piece of land situated adjacent to a desirable area overlooking a fantastic lakeside vista which is not being used because of political disagreement. It is hard to draw any significant conclusion from this but it does explain why it takes so long to achieve anything.
If this impasse is to continue perhaps we should be looking at alternative utilisation for the land ie:
Enlarge the park to include the land and devise something educational to erect on the land such as a wildlife or botanical centre.
Remove the covenant and put in a skate park, BMX track or something adventurist.
Whatever the final decision it must in some way benefit the community and blend in with the surrounding area.
