Newton Aycliffe Youth U11’s Falcons 1 – 1 Thirsk Falcons.

This week we played away at Thirsk and it proved to be a frustrating match for us. The game started and we looked a little off the pace and not quite performing to our usual standards. Despite creating a few half chances though we got caught out with a long ball and conceded the first goal of the game despite the best efforts of the goal keeper and recovering defenders.

After this we tried our best to get back into the game quickly and had a goal ruled out for an alleged push in the box. It was not until the second half that we really took a good control of the game and found the equaliser.

Following this we created several chances to win the game but Thirsk still were a threat on the counter attack. A few more good chances passed us by and the game ended 1-1. Just was not our day today and was a largely frustrating game for us and the players. Can’t fault the lad’s efforts though they did their best to try and play the right way and get a result. Well done boys. Goal scorer was Ethan Tate and man of the match was Louis Parnaby.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U16’s Girls 1 – 6 Washington.

This weekend the girls faced Washington in the semi-final of the cup. Unfortunately, the outcome of the match was not what we all hoped. Despite a great first goal from Katie Bragg and some great defending from Melissa and Hallie, the final score of the game came to 6-1 to Washington. There was also some great football played by Katie Fell and Holly Barrigan.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U13’s Girls 2 – 7 Washington Lionesses

On Saturday we were at home v Washington Lionesses who are likely to finish runner up in the league so we needed bring our “A” game to the match. Bright start from both teams resulted in Washington taking the lead but Kate equalising shortly after. The opposition keeper then stopped us taking the lead as she started her MOM performance. At the other end Washington grabbed the lead. Then the girls just forgot to close down giving the visitors time to hit the roof of the net giving Faith no chance on any of the goals HT 1-5.

The girls needed to concentrate on what we do best and to be fair played a lot better in the second half. A lovely free kick from Macy and Hattie beats the keeper to the ball 2-5, a couple of good saves stopped Aycliffe from getting back into the game. A Washington penalty was saved by Faith but the striker tucked away the rebound. Then in the closing minutes the visitors scored again.

Seaton Carew 4 – 3 Newton Aycliffe Youth U14’s Eagles.

On Sunday the Eagles played away at top the league Seaton Carew. The Eagles were a little rusty to begin with and found the pace of a couple of the Seaton Carew players very difficult to keep up with, but they battled on. Seaton Carew scored 4 goals in the first half which on reflection was slightly unlucky for Aycliffe as they were very much in the game as the half went on.

One goal was in my opinion offside, one the ball had clearly gone over the by-line and should have been a goal kick not the resulting goal that was scored. To be fair Seaton were very lucky.

The second half saw Aycliffe take a firm hold of the game. The football being played was brilliant.

The squad worked well together and piled pressure onto Seaton Carew. Joey Howarth scored a brilliant hat-trick. He scored a tap in after some determined play, a header off a free kick played in by Joe Halford and a screamer from well outside the box into the top corner! Aycliffe kept pushing for the equaliser but just ran out of time.

Really proud of the players’ effort and the result isn’t a disappointment as they were outstanding. Man of the match was Joey Howarth and Ellie Geary.
