Under 7s RFYL – RFYL Matchday 21
9.25am KO
Heighington AFC 9 – Deerness Valley 1
Heighington continued to try to play football rather than going long like the away team.
Heighington lads started very fast and dominated the play from the first second and not letting up throughout the game. Played some good football on the ground and started to pass the ball around really well. Some of the goals scored by the lads were excellent in terms of the passing and movement of the ball and I am very pleased with how they took their chances.
Deerness only had one shot which managed to sneak past the oncoming GK Jackson Whiting and I’ll take the blame for that one as I was asking Jackson to play a really high line.
Throughout the game there was plenty of running and strong dribbling from all the lads.
Managers MOM and Joint MOM: Nate Anderson and Oliver Savage, well done lads excellent performance.
Parents MOM went to Isaac Turnbull with 4 votes.
Goals: Archie x 3, Isaac x 1, Oskar x 2, Oliver x 1, Nate x 1, Own goal x 1.
Then onto the afternoon we headed up to NUFC training ground to play Newcastle United.

Heighington 4 – Newcastle United 3
Decent run out for the lads and goes to show they can easily mix it with academy kids.
Considering this was the first time most of the lads had played together and at 7v7 was really positive.
To beat two academy sides and it is an outstanding achievement from the lads.
Under 10s RFYL
Heighington FC U10 9 – Whitburn Panthers 3
The Heighington U10s started life in a new higher division today with superb league débuts for young midfielder Harry Cane and goalkeeper Sky Dickinson.
However, it was a nervous start as we stepped into the unknown, finding ourselves 2 -0 down after 10 minutes.
That was until Mitchell found himself on the end of a cross to neatly slot home and get us back into the game. This sparked the squad into life and we started looking like the team that finished Champions last season. A throughball from midfield saw Lucas assist with a magical back heel onto Tyler which he fired home beautifully.
2-3 down at half time the introduction of Skye in goal seemed to lift the team and it was all one way traffic from then. An incredible passing display saw a frenetic second half from Heighington with a massive 4 goals from our fantastic captain Lucas. Midfield general Will took the game to Whitburn Panthers and added to the tally along with two goals from Matty in the second half. Isaac and James formed their usual defensive iron curtain allowing us to build attacks from the back. Jamie and Olly worked tirelessly on the wings and their contributions adding greatly to our forward, passing style of play.
MOTM: WHOLE TEAM for their attitudes when the chips were down early on. Showed great character and got their rewards for never giving up and letting our heads go down. We’ll done everyone involved today both parents and kids.
Big shout out and thank you to our sponsors at SASH HARDWARE for their continued support for our team, it really means a lot
Chris Harper.

Hetton Junior Napoli 2 – Heighington AFC 1
Both sets of players showed their support for the Ukraine before the match started. It was brilliant to see.
Heighington might have finished their season in defeat, however, they were really unlucky not to get something from the match. Should have had two penalties. Push on Will in the box and an obvious hand ball.
Lost it 2-1 after a monumental effort in the 2nd half by the lads. They were all brilliant. Really unlucky.
Last player to touch the ball for our goal was Noah. So I’ll give it to him.
MOM: Jensley for a brilliant defensive display. Hetton just couldn’t get past him at all.
It’s been a brilliant season overall. The jump up divisions and then the amount of changes in players. We have shown that we belong in this division and on our day can beat anyone. Mega proud of everyone and really looking forward to next season already.
Under 12’s Whites
Heighington Whites 5 – Leven Juniors 1
Heighington Whites were at home to a very good Leven team today and we started very quickly racing into a 1-0 lead within a minute. After 10 minutes we were 2-0 up after some great work in midfield and upfront constantly pushing Leven and giving them no time to play passes. Leven soon pulled one back with a great strike from their forward. The Mighty Whites soon got the goal back to give us a 3-1 lead at half time.
Second the team continued to press Leven and not let them play out and got their reward with a fourth goal of the game. As Leven started to press for goals they left themselves open at the back and Heighington punished them for it with a well taken 5th goal to wrap the game up. The whole team played fantastic today, me and Kian couldn’t be happier with everyone’s performance, from Theo’s saves to Evie, Malco, Joseph and Benjamin solid at the back all game. Midfield of Wilko, Cruz, Noah and Fin worked their socks off and some of the best passing I’ve seen this season. Dan and Chris bossed it upfront all game and never let them play out.
Coach’s player was Dan for his nonstop running and great attitude.
Parents player was Noah for his constant threat and his assists.
Personally, I want to thank the whole team who really turned up and performed as a team from minute one till the final whistle you have all exceeded our expectations today.
Goals today from Daniel Bennett Scott x2, Chris Abrams x2, Charlie Wilkinson x1.
Also a huge thank you to our sponsor The Hammer & Pincers for our amazing strips this season.
