Dear Sir,

I have been looking into joining the Lifestyle Gym in Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre and went to their website to find out about fees and discovered that nearly everywhere else the monthly fee is £17.50 this includes Darlington and most of the country, but in Newton Aycliffe it is £34!

I bring this to your attention to ask the question why we need to pay double.

Lifestyle Fitness Response:

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your reader’s enquiry. Durham County Council works in close partnership with Lifestyle Fitness to provide first class health and wellbeing facilities at a number of leisure centres across the county.

Newton Aycliffe provides three floors of fitness equipment, sauna, steam room, exercise classes and a 25 metre pool within its membership. In addition membership provides a personal and professional service from qualified fitness instructors, providing a detailed programme to meet the customers’ individual needs, with regular reviews as part of the membership price.

Memberships start from £22.50 per month (75p/day) rising to the £34.50 (£1.15/day).

Lifestyle Fitness also operate a range of low cost fitness clubs which do not have swimming facilities or paid instructors, located within areas of high population. The club in Darlington is one of these and on top of the membership fees at these low cost clubs any instruction, advice or fitness programmes need to be paid for directly to a self-employed personal trainer.

For a full picture of what is on offer at Newton Aycliffe we would like to invite all of your readers to visit the centre at our open weekend from 27th to 29th April 2013.  Over this period they will be able to experience the services we have for free as well as discussing with us how we can help to meet their health and wellbeing goals for 2013.
