It was almost inevitable following Brexit, that Nissan would be cagey about future expansion at Sunderland as they export 60% of their cars to Europe. Conversely Hitachi announced this week they are expanding their operation in Aycliffe, creating up to 150 new jobs including apprenticeships. Some companies are being extra cautious and it all comes down to uncertainty following the vote to leave the E.U. The answer is for strong leadership from the Government, mixed with ambition and optimism – a quality the British people have in abundance.
