Dear Sir,
I recently received a parking fine for parking in Aldi’s carpark and not entering my number in the machine. The notification arrived 21 days after the offence and no one keeps a receipt that long for a bottle of wine.
I do make a point of entering my registration number but I also suffer from asphasia, a disability in the way I write things down. So out of interest I went to Aldi’s and deliberately made a mistake in the number I entered and got the message “you have been recorded”. I then tried made-up registration numbers and they all got the same message. So, If like me you get an unexplained parking fine this may be the reason why. The system does not take into account the fact the vehicle is not even in the car park and if you make a mistake entering your reg number you will receive a ticket.
This probably breaks the Equality Act 2010, where people should not be discriminated against because of a disability, and potentially hundreds of people will have been caught out by this error in the programming of Aldi’s system.
