Tributes have been paid to an “amazing” teenager who tragically died at a mental health hospital on Teesside.
Seventeen year old Christie Anne Brayley, was found dead in her bathroom at West Lane Hospital in Middlesbrough on Thursday 27th June.
Christie had been a patient at the hospital and it is thought that she killed herself, but an inquest will be opened into her death to establish the circumstances.
Michael Harnett, Christie’s father, has criticized the “terrible” care he believes she has received, with claims that she was illegally strip searched, restrained and repeatedly sent home despite the concerns of the family that she would self-harm.
Michael commented: “Christie was amazing and we have been overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received from friends, family and neighbours. She was a very thoughtful young lady putting others before herself. On behalf of the family I would like to thank everyone for their kind words, cards and flowers.”
