The Friends of West Park had a productive meeting last week at the British Legion Club. There was a very interesting and informative presentation from Andrew Bailey our Town Clerk. Sonia Newhouse is keen to help and her expertise is very welcome.
The Chairman allowed lots of comments from the floor to stimulate discussion and it is very clear that several individuals and organisations wish to help. We must however refrain from political posturing as that is a turn off for the public and we cannot pre-empt the conclusion of the project.
The group is a friends society and the aim is to meet people, socialise and participate in improving a lovely part of the town. Among other fresh ideas and positive thinking was an idea brought forward by the Youth Council to involve schools and others in building model boats to promote the park and encourage ownership.
Meanwhile actions to be taken include setting up a bank account and planting sessions with trees and bulbs donated by the youth council and planted by them, Acle Scouts and Cubs.
This was a very good second meeting with around 35 people attending.
