An Aycliffe author has written a children’s Christmas book to raise money for the NSPCC charity entitled, ‘The Child Who Saved Christmas’,
Steven Corner, 44, plans to raise £500 for the children’s charity by December with sales of his book. The story is about the evil Yggdrassil, a Nordic Tree God, who craves the magical powers of Santa Claus. The aim of Steven’s book is to encourage children to return to reading paperbacks instead of online versions.
Steven, an electrical and electronics engineering lecturer at Darlington College has already written two other books, ‘The Whispering Pegasus’ and ‘A Dream from the Somme’. Both of these titles are available to read in local libraries around County Durham.
He is now working on his next book, entitled ‘The Giant’s Tooth’, a true story about a climbing accident that occurred on the French Alps in 2011. Steven hopes to work with a climbing charity on this project as well as Britain’s top mountaineer, Alan Hinkes.
The Christmas story is his first book for the NSPCC and hopes to be working with other charities in the future. Each of the characters are based on real life people who have influenced his life which Steven said, adds a personal touch to the book itself.
The Child Who Saved Christmas is available from Amazon priced £4.99
