There is still time for younger people in the Newton Aycliffe Area to register for Year Two of Aycliffe’s Got Talent at the Youth Centre.

Joan Clark, Secretary and organiser of Young Aycliffe’s Got Talent said “Several young people the youngster 7 and the oldest 17, have already registered for the contest, but I know there is a lot more talent out there who have yet to register. Last year nearly 30 younger people took part in the heats and we want to increase that number. I also encourage any of last year’s contestants who didn’t win through to the finals, or who have a different talent to register again”.

The Chairman of last year’s judges David Brittle who is lead singer with The Hyads a Darlington Indi Rock Group said. “It was a privilege to have been involved in the contest and there was an outstanding amount of talent amongst the many contestants. We had a wide range of performers from 5 year old singer and dancer, along with 5 year and 7 year old dancers, incredible ballroom dancers, a singer/guitarist, a number of soloists and also a 7 piece bands with their own 3 vocalists. The task of finding a winner was difficult.

All contestants were invited to take part in a Showcase earlier this year but the band had to decline the offer due to gigs they had booked following the contest. I am looking forward to seeing what this year will bring”.

If you are under the age of 19 and live in the area and have a talent of any type which you feel other people might enjoy listening to or watching then you can get your registration form from reception at the Youth Centre.

Heats are anticipated to take place from September when everyone has settled back to school. Quarter and Semi-finals should be in November with the finals December or January. Registration costs are £2.50 per act but there are chances of winning a number of excellent prizes.
