Great Aycliffe Tidy Team, led by furry mascot Tidy Ted, have continued their wombling every Wednesday morning from 10am ‘til 11am.
The number of volunteers has increased over the past few weeks (sometimes there are fifteen or more of us), meaning the area we are concentrating on gets a really thorough clean.
Whilst it’s wonderful to see this community spirit in action, we’d much rather people didn’t drop litter and that they would dispose of larger items responsibility rather than throwing them into bushes!
The good news is that we do see a reduction in littler in some areas, and we know there are many Newtonians getting out there and litter picking around their own areas.
We recycle unbroken glass, crushed tins and collect crisp packets to be milled into survival blankets for the homeless.
Thanks to GATC for collecting our bags.
