Thanking everyone for their support last Saturday at the Pioneering Care Centre, as you can understand fundraising is the only way I can afford to stay open and these little ones need food and care. It was lovely to see finders and supporters alike, Nev and Jo, Roy and Lori. A big thank you to June and Valerie too.
Hedgehogs may be turning in for the winter now, however, some come out for periodic feeding then hibernate again, these that I have in rescue will be kept safe, warm, dry and well fed. I have been able to order some food for these prickly friends, so here is an example, for the tots or poorly ones I use Royal Canin Mother and Babycat, I generally buy 10kg £80+ and the puppy mousse too, they all love their food here and also clean vet beds twice a day, if necessary. All hoggies will be here now ‘til spring and, as of now, I have 26 here which is more than I have had at any one time.
Can I encourage people to please continue caring for these poor souls, they have such a lot to contend with in the wild and it’s so unfair, it’s been quite a year and I am glad I am a rescuer, for all its pros and cons, all hedgehogs here are going to be fine and on that note another thanks to Angela, Ed and Elaine and staff at Grange Vets for furnishing me with the medicines I need.
Finally on Friday afternoon I will be at McDonalds, Aycliffe, I have some Christmas stuff to sell, please come and see me, a special thanks to Jonny and staff for having me.
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society number is 01584 890801. My Facebook page is ‘Prickly Haven Hedgehog Hotel’, and my email address is: pricklyhaven@yahoo.com (which is not to be used for hedgehogs in trouble).
Thank you.
