Sugar Hill Primary School is looking to appoint a new Governor with experience of premises and facilities management.  Knowledge of the local community and/or links with local businesses is also desirable. Our school’s Governing Body works to ensure we deliver our vision of ‘Learning and Growing Together’. We achieve this by promoting high standards of educational achievement and offering a very positive learning experience, in a happy and safe environment, which promotes a love of learning for life. Governors at Sugar Hill Primary School are responsible for: • Setting the vision, ethos, strategic priorities and targets for the school; • Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff; and • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent. The Governing Body meets termly and there are also requirements to attend  subcommittee meetings, school visits, training and carry out background reading.  National Government guidance suggests good governors spend 1 or 2 days a month contributing to the effective governance of a school.  If you have the necessary skills, knowledge, experience, interest and enthusiasm to strengthen our Governing Body, please request a Governor Application Pack from the office by telephoning 01325 300334, e- mailing sugarhill@durhamlearning.net or downloading the information from our website www. sugarhill.durham.sch.uk.  Completed forms should be returned to the school office by Friday 4th November 2016.  Please note school will be closed for half term holidays from Monday 24th to Friday 28th October and any  e- mails received in this time will not be replied to until Monday 31st October.  Successful applicants will need to undergo a DBS check and commit to a short two day/evening course of governor training. You are welcome to contact the Chair of Governors Joanne Smithson or Head Teacher Mrs O’Rourke for more information about the requirements of the role, governance in general or our school.  We would encourage all potential governors to visit the school’s website www.sugarhill.durham. sch.uk   Our next Governing Body meeting is on Tuesday 15th November 4- 6pm.
