Encouraging progress is being made on the necessary repairs to the roof at St Clare’s church. With the passage of time the roof which has done its duty against the wind and the weather is now in need of refurbishment. The total cost is expected to be in the region of £60,000. Due to the dedicated fundraising efforts of church members and the generosity of a number of individuals and charitable trusts a total of £35,000 has now been raised and work on the first phase has been able to commence.
Rev’d Chris Pearson, the Rector, (shown in the photo) said “It is great to see scaffolding go up and work start in earnest. A lot of amazing voluntary effort and generosity has gone in to getting us this far. I feel confident that we will eventually be able to finish the full job. Then this wonderful building can go on serving the community for many years to come”. Ron Davison, who has been heading up the fundraising effort is keen to hear from anyone who might be able to help the project to reach its financial target. He can be contacted on 01325 320203.
