Laurie Simpson the Eden Arms Hotel Assistant Manager is tackling a 90 mile circular walk in the Lake District to raise money for Kyran Richmond, 9 years old, who lives in Chilton with his parents and 2 brothers.

He has been diagnosed with Juvenile Batten Disease, which is a rare genetic metabolic neurodegenerative disease which causes a healthy child to develop epilepsy, lose the ability to walk, talk, eat and see before dying a premature death in late teens/early twenties.

There is NO CURE for the devastating and heartbreaking disease and Kyran is only the third person in the north east to be diagnosed with this disease. The Battens Disease Family Association receives no Government or NHS funding. If you would like to sponsor him or make a donation you can visit the hotel or go to Kyrans website: www.kyranrichmondfundraising.co.uk or www.facebook.com/pages/eden-arms-hotel/519363854761882
