The first sessions of a new technology smart materials project started last week at Greenfield and Woodham. Over the next 10 weeks a group of Greenfield students and a group at Woodham will be exploring and experimenting with smart materials and new techniques. They will use these new skills and materials to design and create their own products!

This week we had artist and scientist Lynne Hardy showing us the properties of Tyvek and Acrylic – to create colourful samples. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to seeing what new and exciting materials we are going to use next week, and how we are going to turn these into exciting products. The products made by the young people will be on show at Greenfield Community & Arts Centre’s Christmas Extravaganza on Wednesday 5th December 2012.

This is a GAMP AAP funded project that is co-ordinated by Greenfield, with activity happening at Greenfield and at Woodham Academy.
