Children at Stephenson Way Community Primary School have recently taken part in the national charity event ‘BAG IT. BEAT IT’ for the British Heart Foundation.  Families were invited to fill sacks with any unwanted items from home and bring them into school to be collected by the charity.
Their 100+ sacks contained CDs, Toys, Books, DVDs, Stationery and a host of other unwanted items.  Since their collection, the British Heart Foundation have sent through a number of red satin heart badges as way of thanking the efforts of all those who took part at the school.
All donations will go towards funding life-saving heart research and the pupils at Stephenson Way are very proud of the contribution they have made. A Year 5 pupil at the school commented ‘It’s nice to think that the toys I don’t want any more can help some poorly children to feel better’.  Currently the grand total nationally for sacks collected stands at 1,168,474.
