119 Key Stage 2 children and 9 staff from Woodham Burn Community Primary School ran 1 mile by taking part in the Go Run For Fun event at the Oakleaf Complex on Friday morning along with other schools from the Sedgefield area.

The Go Run For Fun programme aims to promote running for children to improve their fitness and encourage them to lead healthier lifestyles.

All of the children said they had had a great time running with their friends and they are all looking forward to taking part in the event again next year.

Miss Roberts, PE Co-ordinator said “We run daily in school but this has been a brilliant event that has reminded all of the children that running can be fun.”

Mrs Gibson, Teaching Assistant said “I was really impressed that there was a track available for the children with disabilities who would have found it difficult to get around the main running track. I went around the track with six of our children and the finish line was in the same place as the rest of the groups so the children still felt involved with the rest of the runners”.

Woodham Burn would like to say a big thank you to the GRFF team and the Sedgefield Schools Sports Partnership team for organising the event”
