Local artist and designer, Sharron Bates held an exciting illustration day at Woodham Burn Out of School Club recently.
Sharron has written and illustrated a children’s book called ‘Where’s Brian?’  During the creative day, on the 9th of August, she brought her story to life for the children with storyboards and discussion on friendships.
Ably assisted by her son, Joe, Sharron helped 33 children aged from 3 to 10 years old to create some wonderful artwork.
Kendra Green, Manager of Woodham Burn Out of School Club said:
“The story helped the children to think about friendships and this week our activities have been based around this theme.”
Sharron uses collaged papers to create detailed illustrations. After studying the book’s illustrations the children were inspired to create their own collaged masterpieces, some of which were characters from the story.
Sharron was very impressed with the quality of the work the children produced. She said: “The children were all very engaged in their artwork and I feel sure I have met with some future artists today.”
The children were rightly proud of their creations and a fun day was had by all.
