Greenfield Community College were privileged to welcome Robert Senior, world wide CEO from the renowned advertising company Saatchi & Saatchi.  He has been the producer of iconic advertising campaigns and is a leading force in global creative thinking. Students were thrilled to hear him speak and were engaged as he spoke of his own experiences and his vision for success.  He spoke of working hard to do what you love, and how this means that you will progress.

He encouraged students to look for something they enjoy, don’t go out looking for money, it doesn’t work – were the sentiments of the motivational speaker. A selection of Year 10 and Year 11 students from the Aycliffe site and Sunnydale Campus were lucky enough to take his advice on board which is a timely experience as they look to their future in the coming months.  Mr Senior also visited tutor groups who have been working on projects around entrepreneurship and establishing new business ideas.

The busy CEO also found time to tour the school and was very impressed with the fabulous facilities that we have and was interested in the SOLE sessions which encourage self-organised learning and our unique gallery space.  As part of his busy day he met with Executive Head Teacher David Priestley and school’s Leadership Team and was interested in their motivation to teach and how they had come to be at Greenfield.   “Our students really enjoyed listening to Robert speak and were certainly motivated by his ‘advice from an old neighbour’ talk” said Stuart Dixon, Deputy Head Teacher. “It was very rewarding for the students to see someone, originally from our local area, making such an impact on the world stage with a leading international company.

The Speakers For Schools programme, that organised the visit from Robert, is a fantastic way of allowing our young people at Greenfield to hear the thoughts of some of the world leading experts in a variety of different fields.”
