On 21st December 2013 Trish Kay represented Aycliffe Running Club at the annual Ronnie Walker Saltwell 10K  England’s oldest road race. In an undulating 3 lap course in and around Saltwell Park in Gateshead Trish ran well to finish in 52:16.
On Sunday 29th December 12 members of the Club joined 700 runners for the Jolly Holly Jog 10K at Ripon which was chip timed for the first time.  The race had mixed terrain with slippery descents, a steep grassy bank and lots of mud and puddles.
The course set out from Hell Wath field, through Mackershaw Woods and Studley Park before finishing on waterlogged fields.  First to finish for Aycliffe was Peter Milburn in 42:52 then John Burnside 45:51, Peter Smith 46:24, Graeme Miles 49:16, Kevin Greenall 51:18, Naomi Kellett 51:38, John Young 52:10, Sue Milburn 54:14, Gary Minns 54:32, Chris Forster 55:18,  Mick Brunskill 58:36 and  Anne Kellett 61:44.
On 4th January Trish Kay started off the New Year running the 5K Riverside Park run at Chester Le Street and finished 10th female in 24:16.  On the same day at Hackworth Park, Shildon  Sandra Collins finished in  9th in 23:46 and Colin Gibson 10th in 24:08.
On Sunday 5th January, 3 members of Aycliffe Running Club travelled to Hart village for The Old Monks race, a challenging, course through woods and fields, on public footpaths and bridleways.  The course, approximately 5.5 miles,  was very muddy and icy in places. First home for Aycliffe was Rob Nicholson in 51:16 followed by Julie Nisbet in 53:10 and Bev Phillippo in 54:18.
Wynyard Park 5K was the chosen race on the same day for  5 members of the Club. The conditions were cold, icy and muddy in parts and the course was cut slightly short due to a gate not being open towards the end.
First home was Peter Smith in a great time, 16th position and 2nd 050 in 19.31, followed by John  Burnside in 27th and 1st 055 in 20.15, followed by Sue Milburn 51st  in 22:17 and 1st 055,  then Kelly Smith in 60th in 23.01, followed by Ally Chesney  85th in 25.46, then Ross Garland 111th in  29.36.
