On 11 September, one Member took part in the 37th Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon. Richard Holland completed the course in a time of 1:48:10.
On 24 September, the Cross Country season started with the first race in the NEHL series taking part at Wrekenton, Low Fell. Despite a rainy and windy day, a number of members managed to brave the conditions and give an excellent account of themselves. Those taking part in the Senior Men’s race included John Firby 36:37, Richard Campbell 40:45, Dez Fielden, 42:06, Shaun Dodd 45:55, Trevor Needham who finished third in Senior 65 category in 46:19 and Richard Holland 47:02. In the Senior Women’s race, three runners too part including Jayne Rudd 35:46, Steph Colvin 37:49 and Melanie Rowland 38:11. Alan Wilks also completed the shorter course in a time of 32:56.
On 25 September, 7 members took part in the Coxhoe 10k trail run. Paul Dalton was first back finishing in second place and earning a trophy in a time of 36:43. Other members taking part included Clare Stradling 51:38, Kevin Tatham 51:53, Trish Kay 54:41 (second ladies 60’s), Kirsty Cameron 1:00:36, Eve Doe 1:05:32 and Kelly Dickinson 1:06:38.
Saturday morning was a very busy one for Members with a total of 32 members beginning their weekend with a Parkrun. The Club was represented at the Whitley Bay, Falkirk, Sedgefield, Darlington South Park, Hackworth, Hartlepool, Fell Foot, Northallerton, Leazes, Jubilee and Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation events.
Both Dave Blewitt and Yvonne Blewitt took part in the Falkirk event for the first time finishing in a times of 23:09 and 29:54 respectively. Carley Gibson took part at Whitley Bay for the first time, finishing in a time of 28:26. At Hartlepool, Angela Sutheran completed her 50th ever parkrun in a time of 32:23. Over at Northallerton, David Stothard and Ian Stothard continued their parkrun tour and another new event, finishing in times of 28:07 and 39:02. Over at the aptly named Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation event, Pauls Rands finished first in a time of 22:52.
