It was a day of family fun at Rose Lodge Care home as the home hosted their annual Summer fete as part of the Aycliffe Festival. From a bouncy castle to vintage cars, there was something for everyone as guests of all ages were welcomed to the free afternoon event. The dining room of the care home was converted into a vintage tea room, with cakes, cream teas and other treats on sale. The fete also featured a raffle and tombola, bric a brac, jewellery stall and retro sweets sale. It was the second year running that Rose Lodge participated in the Aycliffe Festival, a wide variety of communityorganised and hosted events which replaced the Great Aycliffe Show last year. Rose Lodge, which provides residential care for elderly people and those living with dementia, raised over £640 from the day. The proceeds raised go towards the residents’ fund and is used for extra treats for the residents such as day trips out. The home would like to thank Boots Chemist, The Cobblers Hall pub, Sore Paws Vets, Julie’s Pets and Petal Flowers florist for donating prizes for their raffle. Rose Lodge Activities Coordinator Diane Tweddle, Said: “We are delighted with the success of our Summer fete. We had a brilliant turn out and residents, families and guests on the day had a brilliant time. It’s very important to us that our residents can continue to stay active within our community and participating in the Aycliffe Festival and hosting our family fun day was a great opportunity to further build relationships with those in our local area. We want to thank everyone who came along or donated prizes for their support.”
