Police and Crime Commissioner Ron Hogg has announced the appointment of Alan Reiss as his new Chief of Staff. The Durham Police and Crime Panel met on Tuesday 22nd April where they considered and agreed to support the proposed appointment of Mr Reiss.
Mr Reiss, aged 34, will officially take up his new role in the summer, succeeding Mrs Lesley Davies. He is a Senior Civil Servant currently working as the Deputy Director of Strategy at the Department for Education in Westminster.
Mr Hogg said: “I welcome Alan who has a wealth of experience operating at a senior level within a challenging environment. I am confident he will make an excellent Chief of Staff and will fit in well in terms of helping make Durham and Darlington a safer place to live and work.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank Lesley Davies for her loyal service to my office, to Durham Police Authority before that, to Durham Constabulary and our partners. I wish her well with her retirement”.
Discussing his new appointment, Mr Reiss said: “I am thrilled to be accepting this opportunity. I look forward to bringing my family to the North East and to working with the Commissioner, police and partners to deliver the Police and Crime Plan for the community in County Durham and Darlington”.
