On behalf of A.C.O.R.N Residents Association I would like to thank everyone involved for their input to our Halloween Spooktacula event at Aycliffe Leisure Centre on Saturday 27th October.

Thanks to the efforts of the Leisure Centre staff, the Sycamore Suite was well laid out and the bar was run by friendly staff. All the staff could not have been more helpful in dealing with our requests and we look forward to presenting our Christmas Fair in the same location.

DJ Trev performed superbly with just the right mix of music to suit the audience from kids to grandparents, with something for everyone and at a level which allowed conversation.

I don’t think I have ever attended a function where everyone from 3 to 83 danced the night away almost from the start. Thanks to Keith and Alison our organisers of this event, they certainly did us proud. It was fantastic to see so many families out together enjoying a great night out.

The costumes and makeup must have taken hours to prepare but the effect was sensational. I am pleased I was only announcing the winners as it must have been terribly hard to pick a winner of the contest.

Grateful thanks also to Rebekah who took time out from her busy studying schedule to supply us with the absolute wizard decorations for the hall.

Amazing as it seems in this hi tech age in which we live, the children thoroughly enjoyed ‘pass the parcel’ with Alison playing the part of games mistress. Well done Alison!

Caterers, the Cornforth Partnership supplied us with a great buffet supplemented by cakes brought along by the Picken family, which went down an absolute treat (they must have been good as there were none left for me).

Once again another triumph for our friends and neighbours who make ACORN the great group it is. Our next meeting is at the Leisure Centre Thursday November 8th at 6pm where we will be debating issues affecting the town and making plans for our Christmas Fair and other events.
