Students at Woodham Academy celebrated this week as GCSE English results were upgraded.  A total of 27 students saw their grades moved up. The school requested a remark after coursework marks were changed by a moderator.
The original marks awarded by teachers have been upheld with results increased by 7% in English pass rates. This means well over two-thirds of students have now achieved grade C or above in both English and Mathematics.
Headteacher, Christine Forsyth, says, “This is wonderful news for the students concerned.  For some it will be life-changing as they now have the qualifications required for higher level courses or apprenticeships.”
The correction of the moderation error also means that Woodham Academy results have gone up for the third consecutive year, continuing a pattern of sustained improvement.  This now extends to all subject areas, with 16 different subjects returning record results.
