As the date for this year’s Cutting Loose event draws closer, preparations for the performance continue at a busy pace at Greenfield Arts!
The College’s STEM club (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) had another visit from puppet maker Molly last week, during one of their sessions.
The group met Molly earlier in the term to talk about the design for the Faery Kind Puppet she is making for Cutting Loose. The students have spent the past few weeks using “Room 13” at Greenfield Arts to research insects to inform Molly’s design. They had some fantastic ideas, which they shared with Molly and Annie from Unfolding Theatre last week.
They also had a practical session, using willow to create structures that replicate honeycombs. Molly has now returned to her workshop to create the fantastic large puppet that will form the centre of the event.
Cutting Loose is a carnival celebration of live music and arts that has been developed and created by more than 20 groups from across Newton Aycliffe. The event will take place on Tuesday 15th July 2014, 6pm at the Boating Lake (West Park). The project is being managed by Greenfield Arts and is funded by GAMP AAP, Great Aycliffe Town Council, Livin, East Durham Trust and Greenfield Arts.
