Dear Sir,

I would like to repond to C Rollo’s letter as follows:

“Hello Sir, it really is a serious issue, I have complained to the council for years regarding street parking issues, it is like water off the ducks back sir, however, blame must be attributed to lazy drivers who have garages and driveways.

I own three vehicles and all are garaged, my home is an ex-council property with three bedrooms, I have one garage with a 30 foot drive which used to be a garden; my leisure vehicle sits on this, while the car which is 15ft-9” long sits in the garage all day when not in use. We are lucky to have a piece of land that is a yard wide outside the garage and also there is an adopted highway the same width where we could have another car.

All of the houses in my area have these and I do not leave any of my vehicles out on the road, we have steel lockable gates front and back.

Back to the issue of lack of parking, not mentioning where I live, there are people who deliberately obstruct our egress and access, it has cooled off due to the police interaction and I thank them for their assistance. All the homes in our area have garages, but only a few ever use them, it is these people who need to be educated into using these fantastic assets, so Mr. C. Rollo, do you have a car that is on the road while you have a garage or drive? What effort does it take to get it off the road? These questions are extended to all Newtonians, who are too lazy to do as I do; have some common sense, it will only get worse.
