Dear Sir,

In response to a letter published in the Newton News in regards to face coverings and social distancing from an anonymous author.

At John’s Mini Mart we display more signs than most shops around the above issues. For a small shop we have three sanitising stations in clear view and free for all customers.

Face coverings are advised by the signage, but it is illegal to ask or force a customer to wear a face mask. Both Asda and Tesco have received fines after being taken to court for illegally forcing customers to wear a face mask. It is against human rights and the law to enforce this, which is why we don’t in our shop.

Social distancing is better in our shop, through our one way system, than 90% of shops. Most, including Tesco, control at the door, then think a face mask makes you invincible inside.

Above all, we care about each and every customer and appreciate you every single day, so thank you for your loyalty.

John’s Mini Mart, Neville Parade.
