Dear Sir,
In a recent issue of Newton News the committee of Moore Lane Sports Club were accused of having little regard or concern for the residents living close to the club. The issue related to parking on match days and other events.
The Management Committee take the wellbeing of our neighbours very seriously and endeavour to minimise any form of disruption and inconvenience.
The Sports Club and the Football Club make every effort to provide parking for visitors even going so far as providing “Park and Ride” on major events.
It must be pointed out the Sports Club has only one car park and does not have a field; the other parking area is Council owned.
It does have an award winning cricket ground, one of the best rugby pitches in the county and an F.A. standard football ground that is the envy of many.
No details of vehicles being damaged or written off have ever been reported to the committee although on many occasions careless drivers have been witnessed turning left out of Gunn Lane, tending to just glance right and pull straight onto incoming traffic who have been forced onto the right hand side of the road.
Parking in and around the Sports Club suffers the same problem as every other street in the town, but we assure those concerned that we shall continue to mediate with the local council and police to restrict, wherever possible, the number of vehicles visiting the club.
Any concerned residents are invited to express their grievances to the Management Committee at any time.
