New President of Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club, Nora Scott, followed in her husband David’s footsteps when she received her chain of office this week. David was President of the club in 2008-9 and will be its Sergeant at Arms for the next 12 months.
Nora, from West Auckland, has been a club member since 2006 and takes over the presidency from Rtn Denese Cartwright (pictured, front with Nora after the handover ceremony).
Denese was praised for her leadership during the year which, said Rtn David Anderson, was hallmarked by her professionalism and sense of humour.
New Senior Vice President is business development executive Tony Robinson. Financial planning con-sultant Jon Bean becomes Junior Vice President.
Long-serving club member Geoff Knapton is to be club secretary with Barry Hutchinson as treasurer.
Appointed chairmen of the club’s various committees were: Tony Robinson (Club Service), Malcolm Masterman (Community Service), Jon Bean (Foundation), Roger Curtis (International), Syd Howarth (membership), Ron Eyley (Public Relations), John Burrows (Railway Event) and Robert Manners (Golf Day).
The club meets at Redworth Hall Hotel on Tuesday evenings at 7.15pm.
