Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, which has a rehoming centre in Darlington will be hosting its 6th annual Dogs Trust Honours awards ceremony this summer and is calling on dog-lovers from County Durham to nominate their hairy heroes.

The esteemed Dogs Trust Honours has been the most yapped about event in a dog’s diary since it launched six years ago. Aiming to celebrate the difference dogs make to our lives, the awards ceremony recognises heart-warming stories of devotion and courage.

Sue Embleton, Manager of Dogs Trust Darlington, says: “Dogs Trust Honours is now in its 6th year and we continue to be amazed by tales of courageous canines, devoted dogs and furry fabulousness!

The awards ceremony reminds us why the faithful hound has earned the much deserved title of man’s best friend.

We are urging dog lovers of County Durham to nominate their marvellous mutts and help us celebrate the very special relationship between man and dog.”

The winning VIP’s (Very Important Pooches) will be chosen by a panel of celebrity dog-lovers and will be awarded in July at the star-studded Dogs Trust Honours ceremony, the most sought-after date in the canine calendar!

If your dogs are hoping to get their paws on a Dogs Trust Honour, you can nominate by visiting www.dogstrusthonours.co.uk or by sending details and a good quality photograph to awards@dogstrust.org.uk.

Nominations are also accepted via post; please send to Dogs Trust Honours, 17 Wakley Street, London EC1V 7RQ.  Closing date for nominations is Monday 3rd May.
