BBC Look North advertised for people in the North East to come forward and share memoriable experiences of 2012. The music project took 100 people aged from one to 100 to create a unique song, telling their stories of the year.

Composer Benjamin Till created a piece of music for the film and the contributors, who were all born between 1912 and 2012, sang or spoke their lines.

Jemma Chrichard from Newton Ayclife was the year 1980, chosen to take part as she had recently given birth to a baby boy, William, after 4 years trying to conceive. Filming for her segment took place in BBC Middlesbrough.

Along with the filming, Jemma was interviewed live on radio (BBC Tees). “It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.and I got to meet some lovely people and hear touching and inspirational stories. I feel very fortunate to have taken part, and look forward to the day William can see it.” said Jemma.

The 100 Faces film was aired on BBC1 for the first time on December 20th, it is available to watch online on the BBC website and YouTube.
