Local bus company Arriva North East has announced the introduction of a new zone which will replace the current ‘Darlington Borough’ zone to allow customers to travel further for less.
The new ‘Aycliffe and Darlington’ zone will go live on the 26 October  and will see lower fares introduced for residents in Aycliffe, particularly for the popular journey into Darlington which now has buses running up to every 7 minutes.
The day saver price will now be £5.50 for unlimited travel throughout the whole zone and the weekly will be £16.00 which allows unlimited travel  throughout the week and the weekend.
Nick Knox, area managing director from Arriva North East, said: “We are delighted to be able to extend this zone and offer passengers in this area the means to access these cheaper fares.  These price reductions represent a saving of 20% on a day or return ticket and over 35% on a weekly ticket, which will be a great benefit to regular customers.
It is important that we listen to our customers and continue to make improvements to the network to ensure we encourage more people to get on board with bus travel.” For timetables and more information please visit www.arrivabus.co.uk/north-east
