Newton News would like to welcome Aaron Elliott (28) who is the new Customer Experience Manager. Aaron was previously the People Manager (HR) in the Newton Aycliffe store and has worked for Tesco’s since leaving school at 16. Aaron has worked his way through from the checkout to his new position and looks forward to meeting customers who shop in store and working with local community groups and organisations. Every couple of months Tesco give away the money made from carrier bags to local not for profit organisations. Grants of £4000, £2000 and £1000 are available and can be applied for or nominated at www.tesco.com/carrierbags – Aaron would like more local community organisations to apply for the available funding through the “Bags of Help” scheme.

Six members of staff from the Tesco store are also joining the “Great Tesco Walk”, which is a countrywide  effort walking in stages from Lands End to John O’Groats.  The six staff will walk from Stockton to Chester-leStreet, a total of 49k. This is a fundraising challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK and will take place on Friday 22nd September and staff will be fundraising in store that weekend. There will also be a hot dog and tombola stall to boost the funds. You can also give via JustGiving at www. justgiving.com/fundraising/ teamtescoaycliffe
