Five Acres Community Garden CIC would like to share some incredible news with Newton News readers and the wider community.
On Wednesday 13th July they attended a Planning Meeting at The Town Hall in Darlington where the planning application was to be discussed . . . and approved.
[Application 21/00753/FUL]
They are delighted with the result.
In real terms it now means Five Acres can open a second site to offer day respite for 30/40 more members.
The new site is located on Lime Lane, Brafferton and is ideal for its new purpose as an outdoor centre offering gardening, horticulture, crafts, animal care and lots more.
The organisation will continue to work from its current home at the ROF 59 Activity Centre in Newton Aycliffe, but the approval to build a gated and fenced countryside facility with animals will expand the activities for the ‘Champions’ who attend this wonderful organisation.
Five Acres are so thankful to everyone who supported them during the rather tedious process, with special thanks to Abi Smith, a dear friend, who went above and beyond to help with the application; Craig Kipling, from Studio ANYO, for help and guidance and to all who assisted, taking the time to write letters of support to raise awareness of this much needed additional facility to our area.
Lastly, to our wonderful ‘Champions’, who will be the beneficiaries of this fantastic new site . . . this is for you.
