The Neighbourhood, Response and Crime teams working out of Newton Aycliffe have been busy responding to a variety of incidents across the area over the past week, including Concerns for Safety, Missing Persons, Shoplifting, Domestic Incidents and Harassment.
Below is a brief overview of what we have been up to;
Officers have been out and about on Friday as part of the ‘Ahead of the Arrest’ with Humankind Charity, launched to help vulnerable members of the community suffering with drug and alcohol misuse. A number of people were visited, and one resident signed up to the project.
On Tuesday, members of the Neighbourhood Team attended St Mary’s RC Primary for the first of our School Carousel sessions this year. The topics were Bullying, Anti-Social Behaviour, Online Safety and Crime & Consequences. The students were fantastic all day and had a visit from Jet & Ben to end the day.
On Wednesday, PCSO’s Nichols & Kipling attended Sugar Hill Primary School to deliver a talk on Online Safety to Years 5 & 6. The topics here were Cyber Bullying, Online Grooming and Cyber Security.
Also on Wednesday, PCSO’s Kipling & Todd attended The Hub Of Wishes for a ‘Cuppa with a Copper’, engaging with lots of residents during this time, listening to their concerns, and issuing some crime prevention equipment to residents who needed them.
On Friday, PC Welch issued a number of ACE Awards to a group of friends who have been raising money for charity over the past few years.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Team have been out with the Parking Enforcement Team on a couple of mornings this week, focusing on Primary Schools in the town.
On Sunday, PCSO’s Middleton & Kipling conducted Community Speedwatch on Burnhill Way and Woodham Way. Out of 62 vehicles on Burnhill Way, 7 vehicles were found to be speeding. Zero vehicles were speeding on Woodham Way.
Officers have been out and about over the weekend focusing on our hotspot locations and have engaged with a number of youths & residents in the process.
Finally, if you haven’t already and have a spare minute, please sign up to Keep in the Know where you can receive regular alerts from the team here on what’s happening around the town, such as crime updates and road closures. It’s completely free and you can sign up by visiting www.keepintheknow.co.uk/content/pages/sign-up.
