Under 8’s Reds faced Cockfield at Whitworth in a game where luck was not with Aycliffe. There was some brilliant team defending and passing, but they only managed to score the one goal through Kian. MOTM was Jack for superb defensive display.
Under 12’s Blacks faced Hylton in a tough game against an incredibly good team who were top of the table. Aycliffe started off the better side creating numerous chances. Jake opened the scoring with a towering header from a great corner. Unfortunately, Aycliffe could not hold onto the lead and Hylton got the equaliser just before the half-time. With limited chances in the second half, Hylton went on to win 3-1. MOTM was Jake for his great challenges and well-timed important tackles and
Charlie for some outstanding saves to keep Aycliffe in the game.
Under 12’s Whites played against third placed Roseberry Park, it turned out to be an end-to-end game with both teams battling from the start. Unfortunately, one scrappy goal was the only thing that separated the two teams with the away team coming out winners. MOTM was awarded to goalkeeper Jensen and centre back Thomas for two strong performances.
Under 15’s Blacks travelled to Jarrow to play Hedworth Gold FC. The game was fast and very physical from the start, both teams were relentless with fast football, great passing and hard tackles from both sides. Aycliffe played an excellent team game with great play throughout the field, talking to each other, creating chances and strong defending to go in at half time 0-0. In the second half the game kept its pace, however, a red card saw Aycliffe down to ten men. Hedworth took the lead then Zak equalised. Hedworth were awarded a corner in the final minutes, from which they scored, to end the game on a frustrating 2-1 defeat. There were outstanding performances from Leon & Callum as stand in goalkeepers, both pulling off some outstanding saves. MOTM was Jason.
Under 16’s Blacks travelled to Chester Le Street, putting in a very disciplined performance that resulted in a 0-0 draw. MOTM was Moore.
