Despite it being Easter Weekend, some teams took the opportunity to catch up on games.
TIBS Yellow 1 v Aycliffe U13 Eagles 9
A great team performance with a comfortable win, nice to get plenty of goals but the performance was more to admire. Aycliffe went a goal down within the first four minutes, but the lads didn’t take long to equalise and then ran away with the game. Some of the passing and moving was a pleasure to watch. Goals from Rossi x 2, Leiland x 2, James, Harley, Jack V, Evan and an OG. MOM Leiland.
Aycliffe U14 Girls 2 v Velocity Diamonds 0
Excellent display against a team who are top of the league, we set up 5-4-1 and it paid off with a first half goal from Ella and a second half goal from Amy Dowson. Penalty save from Amy Miller. POTM Holly.
Aycliffe U15 Eagles 2 v Winlaton 1
Playing against the team Aycliffe drew with last week, they knew it wasn’t going to be easy. The game started a little scrappy and the Winlaton defensive line was strong. The lads, however, battled until the final whistle and they left nothing on the pitch. A whole team effort today from the lads. Goals from Jayden x 2. MOM Zac.
Aycliffe U12 Wildcats 1 v Gateshead Redheugh 1
The girls knew it would be tough as we were beaten 4-1 at their place. It was a battle from start to finish and there was action at both ends. Gateshead scored from a rebound to go ahead. HT 0-1. The second half was similar and tight until a shot from Aycliffe was handled in the box. From the resulting penalty, Lucy placed it in the top corner for 1-1 and that’s how it finished. Great point.
Aycliffe U11 Wildcats v Durham United
A great win for the girls, playing at home for the first time in months. The game started quickly with Aycliffe winning a penalty, Captain Poppy stepped up and scored. Phoebe completed a hat trick after beating the defence and slotting the ball past the keeper. Lily scored twice from crosses to the back post to slot home. Frankie finished off the goal scoring after winning a penalty. FT 7-2. POTM Phoebe.
Aycliffe U10 Wildcats v Boro Rangers Blues
The girls started well, on the front foot, with an aggressive press. Georgia won the ball, played a nice pass to Sophie who slotted it home to give Aycliffe an early lead. Sophie made it 2-0 with a wonderful finish from the edge of the box, assisted by Alice R. Boro got one back in the second half. Aycliffe then had to show resilience, defending well, to get a deserved win. POTMs Sophie and Alice H.
Darlington FC 5 v Aycliffe U14 Angels 4
Not our night on our first midweek match of the season. Darlington took a 2-0 lead, before Aycliffe took a 3-2 lead (hat-trick for Romilly). Darlington then went 4-3 up at half time. Faith then equalised early in the second half. Darlington got their winner five minutes from time. Star players Faith and Maddi.
Aycliffe U8 Wildcats – Bishop Auckland FC
Easter Play at the Park Tournament.
First tournament for the girls and a great experience at Bishop FC ground. The girls played really well, all morning, against strong opposition. Unbeaten all day and only knocked out on penalties by the tournament winners. The team of Willow, Alice, Layla, Ella, Matilda, Emilia, Phoebe, Hannah and Sophie did themselves proud.
