At the Town Council A.G.M. and the end of Wendy Hillary’s year as Mayor she donated the total cash she raised to the MRI Appeal, as her chosen charity.

Head Fundraiser for the Appeal, Pat Chambers, was present to accept the cheque and said how delighted she was to receive such a large sum.

Pat said: ‘I was totally overwhelmed at the amount raised by Wendy during her term of office as Mayor of Great Aycliffe. Based on previous conservations about the fundraising I believed the donation would be approximately £1500 but was floored by the generosity of a massive £3250! We are so grateful for this donation, with work still underway to complete the installation at Darlington Memorial Hospital we are mindful that fundraising still needs to continue as we don’t actually pay for the scanner until December. So if there are any other local heroes like Wendy, who can still help us with our fundraising for the MRI Scanner Appeal, we would be delighted to hear from you.’

In making the presentation Wendy said she proud to be able to contribute to the Scanner appeal and thanked everyone who had supported her during her year of office. She also congratulated the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor John Clark and Mary on their appointments.
