Shildon model railway club are to stage their annual show exhibition at Locomotion museum in Shildon on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June.

The club are proud to announce that they have secured a key exhibit that stretches over 26 feet long and 2 feet wide. The impressive structure is the work of just one person – Doug Kightley who painstakingly spent two and a half years building “The Forth Bridge”.

This will be the first time this layout has been exhibited in the North East of England and one not to be missed.

Accurate models of North Queensferry and Dalmeny are at the respective ends and have tiny model trains crossing the 3mm gauge track.

The show opens to the public at 10am each day with over 20 impressive working layouts throughout the exhibition site.

Flying Scotsman will make an appearance on numerous layouts along with accurate display models of both Shildon and Billingham to name a few accompanied by the sounds and smells of a bygone era.

Trading representatives from Hornby, Bachmann and Dapol as well as respective model retailers will be in attendance from 10 am – 4.30pm each day. Parking on site and entry is totally “FREE” of charge making this a great family day out.

Throughout both days visitors can purchase “steam train ride tickets” for just £3 or an all day ticket for just £5.

On site both indoor and outdoor picnic areas as well as play areas are available throughout the Locomotion site along with Locomotion’s cafe facility.

Open 10am – last entry 4.30pm – Free entry.
