Spring is in the air and it was only fitting for Mayor Ken and Mayoress Elaine to be invited along to Newton Aycliffe’s new Bridal Boutique ‘The Green Aisle’ to congratulate owner Amanda Shaw on winning a Sustainable Start Up Award from the Sustainable Wedding Alliance.
This new business is located in Suite 4 Avenue House, which is located above the old TSB, across from Aldi and Tesco. We were escorted into the building by a beaming and enthusiastic Amanda, into her showroom where a huge array of wedding and prom dresses were on display along with shoes to match, for every occasion.
As a mere man I was impressed by the stock, but slightly taken aback by the Mayoress reaction, I have no doubt this visit will cost me dearly. We have all got into the habit of decrying the lack of choice in our town centre so I would recommend anyone planning a wedding or a prom should keep it local and visit The Green Aisle first.
