I was shocked last Saturday to find that M&Co in Newton Aycliffe will be closing sometime in March 2013.

Firstly I feel awful for the very nice ladies who work there, who will lose their jobs, and with so few jobs around this is going to be difficult for them.

Some work 12 hours, and if they do manage to find work in Darlington or Bishop Auckland you can easily say it will cost about £20.00 in bus fares plus travelling time.

Secondly, what about the people who live in Newton Aycliffe, we get Aldi and another shop is taken away. That also means extra bus fares that people can ill afford if they want to buy an item of clothing. Two ladies in the shop on Saturday said they come from Chilton as they cannot get a bus to Bishop Auckland, in March they will not be able to shop in M&Co, so one they can not travel to, and one will be closed!

It seems from what I understand, and I am sure I will be corrected if wrong, is that the landlords want higher rent, and they would rather have no rent than lower rent.

When I came to this town it was a lovely and clean now look at it? It is awful. Can nobody do anything to save Newton Aycliffe, and make it a nice place to live in once more.
