Residents are encouraged to pull on their walking boots and bring their dogs along, if they have them, to take part in a walk around the original 5 mile route of the Great Aycliffe Way on Saturday 9th July, starting at 10am from the Oakleaf Sports Complex.
The event, which is organised by Great Aycliffe Town Council, aims to be a pleasant community walk to highlight this virtually traffic free asset of the town which takes in various parks, meadows and woodlands located within the town.
Town Councillors and Officers plan to attend the event and walk the route, so that members of the public are able to chat to them on an informal basis during the walk if they wish.
The walk will be completed at a relaxed pace, the surface is flat and even throughout so, if you have never walked the full route or it’s been some time, this is your perfect opportunity to do it in the company of new people.
Any participant bringing their dogs should ensure they are kept on a lead during the community walk.
