Over 300 job-seekers from across County Durham turned out in force looking for employment at a Newton Aycliffe jobs fair yesterday. (Wednesday 14th November).

The event organised by homes and communities organisation, livin and Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership (AAP) saw more than 40 organisations exhibiting at the event which was held at Newton Aycliffe Youth Centre.

Among those attending was, Bishop Auckland College, the armed forces, Ebac, Orange, Durham County Council, Husqvarna, New College Durham, Tallents, Job Centre Plus, McDonalds, Hays Recruitment and the National Apprenticeship Service.

Spennymoor AAP, Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP and the 4 Together Partnership supported the event by providing transport offering picks up across the county ensuring the event was accessible to everyone.

Spennymoor AAP, Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP and the 4 Together Partnership are also supporting the event by providing transport. Pick up points include: Byers Green, Middlestone Moor, Croxdale, Tudhoe, Spennymoor Leisure Centre and Kirk Merrington.

Alan Boddy, executive director, people and communities for livin, said: “Helping someone find a job is one of the single most important things we can do to improve communities.

“We understand we cannot do this alone which is why this jobs fair was critical, as it brought together some of County Durham’s largest employers who were able to offer real jobs to people locally.”
