Nine year old Jessica-Marie Lambert of Cheviot Place was touched by the plight of boys and girl who lost their hair while receiving treatment for cancer. She has a Grandmother in Derby and a friend both suffering from Cancer and wanted to show support.
She decided to help by having her long hair cut to make a wig for one of the victims having read about the Little Princess Trust charity that provides real hair wigs for children with hair loss.
She asked her local Hairdressers “Creations” in the Thames Centre if they would do the job and owner Lynn Hodgson readily agreed at no charge, also helping with sponsorship from staff and customers which has raised £150.
Jessica-Marie, a student at St. Francis School, turned up for the cutting and her hairdresser Leanne from Chilton, took off 7 inches to be sent off to the charity.
Grandma Anne looked on as her beautiful long blonde hair was cropped and said how proud she was of her granddaughter for being so kind and thoughtful.
